How To Avoid Hangover

Hangover is an unpleasant physiological effects following heavy consumption of liquor or drug. Headache, nausea, sensitivity to light and noise, lethargy, dysphasia and thirst are the most commonly reported characteristics of a hangover. A hangover symptom is caused by Hypoglycemia, dehydration, Acetaldehyde intoxication, and vitamin B12 deficiency. Its symptom usually last 1 to 4 hours after alcohol was last consumed, although some reports claim two or three days.

Over consumption of vodka can easily create a hangover symptom. According to medical researches, a glass of beer, wine or mixed drink contains not over 15 grams of absolute alcohol, while vodka contains a larger quantity. For example, beer contains 5% of alcohol, wine contains 12 -15 %, but hard liquors such as vodka contains at least 45 % of absolute alcohol. So these are the difference and why hard liquors such as vodka can cause problems if over consumed.

But if intoxication is stronger, then increase the amount of drops to 5-6 and add 20 drops of mint infusion to 200 ml of water, this will make you sober, decrease intoxication and alleviate headache.

In addition, different populations around the world come up with different cures from the common hangover. These are some examples.

Mongols use dried lambs eyes (crushed to powder) added to 250 ml of tomato juice.
The Polish use 1 spoon of meat broth, 30-50 ml of vodka, some lemon juice and a little black pepper – mix and drink.
In Puerto-Rico, 1/2 of a lemon is rubbed onto the armpits. It is believed that this causes intoxication to disappear almost right away.
